Current Projects
The SLAP Lab is actively engaged in a variety of projects using both behavioral and electrophysiological techniques to investigate second language processing. Our current research includes:
1. Anodal tDCS Stimulation in Intermediate L2 Learners of Spanish: Does it Improve L2 Proficiency?
This project examines whether anodal transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS) can enhance L2 listening and reading comprehension in intermediate L2 learners of Spanish.
Members: Brooke Cameron, Dr. Ezequiel Durand-López
2. Anodal tDCS Stimulation in Intermediate L2 Learners of Spanish: Does it Increase Inhibitory Control and Verbal Working Memory?
Here, we investigate whether tDCS can improve specific cognitive processes, namely inhibitory control and verbal working memory, that support second language processing.
Members: Andie O’Neill, John Duncan, Dr. Ezequiel Durand-López
3. The Processing of Inclusive ‘They’ in L1 Spanish–L2 English
This study explores how bilingual Spanish–English speakers process the gender-inclusive pronoun ‘they,’ focusing on cross-linguistic influences and morphosyntactic computation.
